The DVD's contain a complete setup including the proper Java level. The whole new setup runs within a VM(Virtual Machine) environment using Windows XP. I was unable to transfer my old WIS setup to my new machine try as I may. I recently had to purchase a new set of DVD's from this ebay seller due to updating to a new computer. (I use FireFox 100% normally.)įinally, the last part of your post is very helpful. My set only works with the Internet Explorer browser so be sure you work that out before starting the setup. Keyboard short cuts are used instead of mouse clicks in some cases, I stumbled for a while until I figured that out. Navigating through it all does take some time and effort once you get it loaded. ![]() The WIS is the work shop instructions, the ASRA section is the factory book time for labor to do each procedure and of course the EPC electronic parts catalog, (we in the US should already have free from MBUSA) also a part of the program set. I could not afford to own a Mercedes without it especially an older one at that. The WIS/ASRA/EPC is invaluable to the DIYer or just someone who wants to be informed of what a repair procedure really entails. My setup takes approximately 35GB of hard drive space and a cursory read of one of the Ebay sellers description suggests 65GB so keep that in mind. The seller I used is no longer selling but this link takes you to ones who are. I went a different route and just purchased a set of DVD's from Ebay. I didn't know that a download was available otherwise I would have gone that way 2 1/2 years ago. Thanks Dean for providing this instructional. I use the first disc from the EPC 09_13 to install the core, then the WIS 07_14 and the EPC 09-14 for the databases.Įven with this we will still need to help each other, as will we still need to learn have to navigate it and some parts/info are not listed in it. You should now have a working WIS/EPC setup. From the "Download" menu install the Java etc as needed. Then the user menu and create new user/s. Once in start at the groups menu and create a new group. You will need to change the password to proceed. First login will be User-admin, Password-password. Open your internet browser and in the Favorites menu you will find the folder "EWAnet" go there and click on "EWA net" this will bring you to the login screen. ![]() If you have reached here with everything going smoothly then return to the first tab of the admion tool and check for the green indications of the server and databases you have installed, if you installed both you will have 4 greeen lights if all is well. Now hit the EPC or WIS database update button and again follow the instructions. ![]() THis will add the "Extended" tab, select it. Just run the keygen and copy your LanID from the StarKey tab of the admin tool to the keygen, select how many users you will need (at least 2) and how long you want the key for, press the generate button and you will have the key you need, just copy them into the admin tool and hit save.Īlmost done now you need to add the databases for this you will need to select the Preferences menu-Extended functionality in the admin tool. For this you will need the keygen from mhhauto. The admin tool will start and you are ready to add a StarKey. ![]() Now run "x:\ewa\setup.exe" follow the instructions to install through to the finish. IMPORTANT the system will need at least 1 lan adpater(NOT connected) in order for WIS/EPC to work.īefore you install the EWAnet(this is the core of WIS/EPC) you will need to run the file "Standalone_mediasens.reg" file found in x:\ewa\readme\support directory, then reboot. Now the best setup I have found is to use the earlier version of the EWAnet core and not update the core when installing new databases(Nicer and easier interface). This works the same for Windows XP/Vistra and 7. Once the system is setup and you have the OS installed and running well continue to the next step. If you will be running it in a VM you will need to setup your VM first The setting I would recomend are 3-4 gig of ram and an 80gig hdd running windows xp. Once you have downloaded it, decide wheather you will run it on a standalone system discounted from your network/internet or run it in a Virtual machine(VM). This can easiely be downloaded from along with the "keygen", you will need to be a member first. To make life a little easier for all I would like to help our members with regard to the WIS/EPC.
